NOTE:: This restaurant closed in October 2009.
H.I. Rib & Co. replaced the beleaguered Lonestar Steak House on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Meeting a few months back. This was my second visit, I took my mom because she loves ribs that aren’t spicy, and we both enjoyed our meal.
The menu is pretty diverse, offering a fair selection of entrees, sandwiches, appetizers and drinks both for light appetites and those looking for a big meal. The meal starts with a wonderful bread basket with a sourdough loaf of bread and corn muffins.
This night I ordered a shrimp kebob dinner basted with their house barbeque sauce. It was served very tasty and hot, with a sweet potato and all the fixings, but none of the rice that was promised on the menu. That was a bit of a disappointment.
My mom got the baby back ribs with the house sauce, which she checked to make sure wasn’t spicy and they correctly described the sauce as very mild and a bit sweet. They were very tender and she enjoyed them.
They offer ribs a half dozen different ways and with as many different sauces as well.
I recommend this chain restaurant with one possible caveat: The service was terrible. We had a very young waitress who was not particularly interested in being attentive to us or any of the other customers she was waiting on. But that was not enough to spoil the meal. We enjoyed ourselves.
If I read their website right they are just beginning to expand from their original one location in Pennington, N.J. Plymouth Meeting is open and it looks like they are opening up another place in Doylestown. Good luck to H.I. Rib.
